DESCRIPTION

Medium sized slender owl with long tail. Indistinct, whitish facial disk with black border and yellow eyes. Dark greyish above with white spots, whitish below with dense, dark barring.

HABITAT

Open boreal coniferous forest with moorland.

DISTRIBUTION

North America and Europe. Status - Not globally threatened, declined in Europe.
