DESCRIPTION

Large, rather grey owl,neatly peppered with dark and light freckles. Pale facial disc, edged with broad, upright bands of black. large dark brown eyes rimmed with pale pink. Also known as the Giant Eagle Owl.

HABITAT

Dry savannah with scattered trees, riverine forest, semi-open woodland.

DISTRIBUTION

Africa south of the sebara Status: Widespreadbut scarce, locally threatened.
