DESCRIPTION

Small greyish brown owl, with prominent, whitish facial disk, white raised eyebrows and yellow eyes. Brown upperparts spotted with white, white under-parts broadly streaked with brown.

HABITAT

Mainly old growth coniferous forest and mountainous regions. Status - Not globally threatened, but generally uncommon or rare.

DISTRIBUTION

Northern Holartic,Central and Eastern Europe, Pyrenees, Caucasus and Himalayas.
