Medium in size, Light chestnut brown barred with dark brown and white. Crown dark brown, facial disk whitish with dark rings around the eyes.

Lowland tropical forest.

South India, Sri Lanka, South Myanmar,Malay Peninsular, Borneo and Sumatra. Status - Not globally threatened although rather uncommon.
